A quality recording by a resurgent ACR. Recent shows have been packed out, a refreshing change to their first gig in London for 10 years at Under The Bridge in 2014. Stand out tunes are Supafreak, Berlin and Taxi Guy - exceptional bass, tight as funk drums layered with guitars, trumpet et al and an extra pinch of spice to make this recipe a firm favourite. There is also a lovely shout out for the much missed Denise Johnson. Get the funk in? YEAH!

A work of considerable power and subtlety. Certainly a grower but I was hooked on first listen and it seems to improve on subsequent plays. Well done to everyone involved and good luck for the future, hopefully a long and successful future.

These tracks were recorded around the same time as their self-titled debut, and while that was excellent, I reckon this to be twice as good. Funky, chunky, melodic and lyrically superlative, Mark E. Smith would be very pleased and proud to be honoured so regally, not that he'd ever admit it.
